Chimney Repair

Madd Hatter Chimney Sweep performs a variety of repairs to both the Fireplace and the Chimney. One popular repair is Damper repair or replacement. The damper allows the Chimney Flue to be closed when not in use. This helps prevent loss of warm air and entry of cold air similar to closing a window or the front door.

In Prefab fireplaces, the Firebox Walls and Firebox Floor maybe damaged and/or cracked needing replacement. A masonry fireplace may have similar damage to the fireplace firebox rear wall. Madd Hatter Chimney Sweep also performs Radiant Fireback / Heat Reflector Installation. The fireback can protect the system while reflecting 20 - 40% more heat into the living area.

Spark Curtains are often warped, torn, rusted, and at times even missing. Madd Hatter Chimney Sweep installs new Spark Curtains and Spark Screens to prevent the fire hazard caused by defective or missing Spark Curtains.

Wood Grates too are often defective. They maybe rusted and burned up. Yes, over time they also can be burned. Continuous exposure to heat and fire can also cause them to have large holes burned into them. They even can be collapsed with their belly on the fireplace firebox floor. Madd Hatter Chimney Sweep installs new Wood Grates.

Prefab Fireplaces at times have Water Leaks from the Metal Wash which can cause extensive water damage to the fireplace system and the residence itself. Walls, Ceilings, Floors and other items within the residence can be damaged by a water leak in the Chimney System. Madd Hatter Chimney Sweep repairs the flue / wash penetration and the metal wash itself stopping and preventing water leaks. In extreme cases, Madd Hatter Chimney Sweep replaces the entire metal wash by custom building a new one, removing the old metal wash and installing the New Custom Built Metal Wash.

Masonry Brick Chimneys should have a Concrete Crown on top of the bricks. It protects the brickwork of the chimney and prevents Water Leaks. Over time, the crown can be damaged by moisture from rain and snow melt. This can cause it to crack and erode. Walls, Ceilings, Floors and other items within the residence can be damaged by a water leak in the Concrete Crown.

Madd Hatter Chimney Sweep performs a Repair and Seal of such crowns. In the case of a severely damaged or missing crown, Madd Hatter Chimney Sweep will custom build and install a New Concrete Crown.
